BIOGRAPHY
After a number of co-billed shows Dayna Malow & Mark Lonsway were struck by a realization; apart they were great, but together they were unstoppable. With over 100 shows combined in '05, 12 national openers, & 3 well received albums, this powerhouse duo is sure to do great things in 2006.
Mark Lonsway is a country boy born in the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana. While neither of his parents were particularly musical, his musical education began during the 2-hour car ride between Fort Wayne and his father's hometown of Fostoria,Ohio. At the age of 5, the family moved back to Fostoria where Mark would watch his uncle sing and play guitar. It wasn't long before he began asking Santa for a guitar for Christmas. After his family moved to Syracuse, NY, he began studying classical guitar as well as appearing with local rock bands.
Eventually Mark realized that Syracuse wasn't the place for him so he earned himself a scholarship to DePaul University (Chicago), where he majored in Sound Recording Technology. While at Depaul Mark created the acoustic rock/folk band, Azure Bloom. Azure Bloom had immediate success and eventually recorded a full-length record and received airplay on radio stations throughout the country.
After college and Azure Bloom, Mark began to re-explore his passion for country music. He began to co-write and perform with several Chicago area songwriters, as well as pursuing spot work in the bustling commercial advertising community. In 2003, he collaborated with Nashville producer and keyboardist, Doug Sisemore. Together they recorded his first solo effort, "Not Your Typical Cowboy." The new record featured some of Nashville's best musicians and 6 original songs. Currently Mark resides in Nashville, TN and travels the country performing his music.
Dubbed Chicagos petitie Country music sweetheart with the monster sized voice, Dayna Malow is a hometown girl, born and raised in the Northern suburbs of Chicago. She attended the University of Miami to study jazz voice and studio recording. Living in Florida, being surrounded by some of the country's finest jazz musicians and immersed in the Latin culture, one would think she would have chosen the path of jazz chanteuse or Latin songstress, but she was most enthralled by the music coming from under the door of her Kentucky born roommate. He introduced her to artists such as Alison Krauss, Lucinda Williams, and Lynn Miles. Her newfound passion inspired her to embrace the traditions of Country music as both singer and songwriter.
After returning to Chicago, Dayna took every performance opportunity that came her way; singing with a capella groups swing bands, wedding bands, rock bands, and country bands, at bars, clubs, festivals, and hotels. In late 2001 she released her first album, Anywhere but here to much local acclaim and many favorable reviews. Acting as artist, manager, booking agent, and bandleader, Dayna began booking shows throughout the Midwest. By the end of 2003 she had secured dates with Country superstars like Blake Shelton, Gary Alan, Mark Wills, and many others, playing some of the areas most popular and prestigious venues and festivals. In late 2003 Dayna began to plan the recording of her second album. With longtime friend and Nashville based musician, Doug Sisemore, acting as producer, she journeyed to Nashville to work with some of Country musics finest. In the Fall of 2004 their efforts were realized with the release of her second album, Tangled Up In You. Her songs can be heard on Country radio stations throughout the region, as well as various Internet and overseas stations.
